Grand Prairie motorcycle officer fired gun at suspect during chase, police say

A suspect was injured Wednesday after a Grand Prairie officer fired a gun when, according to police, a driver crashed his car into the officer’s motorcycle.

The suspect, 25-year-old Jose Vega of Grand Prairie, was taken to a hospital to be treated for his injuries, which police said were not believed to be life-threatening. No officers were injured during the incident, according to police.

Mark Beseda, a spokesman for the Grand Prairie Police Department, said police do not know if the suspect was struck by gunfire.

“There are two theories. Either he was grazed by the bullet, or he was grazed by glass fragments from the bullet going through the windshield, we just don’t know yet,” Beseda said. “There is not a bullet lodged in his body, I can tell you that. There were some superficial wounds.”

Rocky Mountain Mini Motorcycle League comes to Grand Junction

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) – The Rocky Mountain Mini Motorcycle League held their second race of the season today at the Grand Junction Motor Speedway.

Rocky Mountain Mini Moto was founded in 2005 to promote and develop the sport of Mini Moto racing in Colorado.

The league is based in Denver but compete all across the state. Some of the racers even go on to compete nationally.

Their vision is to bring mini road racing into the mainstream, promote a safe environment, and develop a positive program to introduce racers and spectators to the exciting sport of motorcycle road racing at all ages.

The league started out as adults racing kids motor bikes with street tires on them. and as interest grew, more and more kids and adults wanted to get involved

Body found inside Grand Canyon believed to be missing Kentucky man

A body believed to be that of a Kentucky man previously reported missing at Grand Canyon National Park was found along with a motorcycle inside the canyon, park officials said Thursday. Searchers on Wednesday found the body believed to be that of John Pennington, 40, of Walton, Kentucky, approximately 465 feet below the South Kaibab Trailhead, officials said in a statement.

Evidence found with the body indicated it was Pennington, who was believed to have entered the park on or about Feb. 23, the statement said.

“The body was transported to the rim by helicopter and transferred to the Coconino County Medical Examiner’s Office,” the statement said. 

On Sunday, the National Park Service announced a search operation for Pennington.
