A 19-year-old riding an electric bike was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Nipomo on Thursday, California Highway Patrol said in a news release.
Dylan Lammers, 41, was driving a Jeep Cherokee southbound on Los Berros Road, where a man was also riding his Addmotor bicycle southbound on the right side of the lane around 11:20 p.m.
Lammers did not see the bicyclist and collided with the bike’s rear tire, sending the bicyclist southbound until he came to a stop near the right shoulder, according to CHP.
Lammers fled the scene and later called CHP to report the collision. The bicyclist was found deceased on the right shoulder by the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office.
California Highway Patrol arrested Lammers at his home later that night. Lammers is no longer in custody as of noon on Friday, according to the Sheriff’s Office’s “Who’s in Custody” website.
The 19-year-old has not been identified, pending notification of next of kin.
Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Officer J. Carr at the CHP San Luis Obispo Office at 805-594-8700.
