Delhi Police nabs three robbers of ‘Chhota-Bada Jigra Gang’






Delhi Police on Wednesday arrested three dreaded criminals who were involved in various armed robberies under operation ‘Varchasv’. Among the three held, two robbers are real brothers who are known as “Chhota-Bada Jigra Gang”.

Police seized two android mobile phones- POCO M2 and Intex Techno and cash from their possession. A stolen scooty and a red-coloured pulsar motorcycle used by the criminals were also recovered.

The criminals used to spend the robbed money on their girlfriends and led prolific lifestyles. Sometimes, they even stole two-wheelers and committed armed robberies to fulfil their financial needs, said Delhi Police.

As per reports, on the intervening night of December 7-8 at around 2 AM, Sohail Ansari and Armaan Ansari, both students of a Dental College, were riding a scooty towards their college when their path was obstructed by two riders on a pulsar motorcycle near CNG filling station near Dichaun depot, Najafgarh, New Delhi. The pillion rider on the motorcycle threatened them with a pistol and they were robbed off their mobile phones, following which the two criminals fled the spot.

Similarly, on December 3 around 8 PM, another victim who went to PNB ATM near Dwarka Mor to withdraw Rs 4000 was robbed off his cash at gunpoint by a boy who fled away with his associate on a scooty, after committing the crime.

In another incident of robbery, a complainant reported that he was robbed off Rs 2500 at knifepoint by three boys on a motorcycle on December 7 when he was heading towards Malikpur Village with his son.

In view of the gravity of offences, DCP Dwarka directed the team of AATS Dwarka to nab the culprits involved in robberies under the operation ‘VARCHASV’.

Moreover, a dedicated team was constituted and deployed under the supervision of Vijay Singh, ACP Ops Dwarka.

As a part of the investigation, the team reached each crime spot and met complainants of each incident. CCTV footage of the crime spots and routes used by culprits were scrutinized, the mode of operation of the accused was also analysed. Along with this, local informers were roped in to collect the information.

DCP Dwarka Shankar Choudhary said “Finally, on December 8, at the instance of the secret informer, three people who were roaming in the area of Gopal Nagar, Najafgarh on a scooty were nabbed by the team.

During their sustained interrogation, all of them disclosed their involvement in various robberies, snatching and theft incidents of various police stations. Out of three, one accused identified as Manish Tiwari aka Sonu is a resident of Baprola, New Delhi who is also listed ‘Bad Character’ of police station Sarojini Nagar, South- West Dist. and previously involved in 11 cases of armed robbery, theft and snatching.

Meanwhile, Rahul aka ‘Chhota Jigra’, another accused in the case, currently resides at Gopal Nagar in a rented house. He is also said to be involved in 15 cases of robbery, snatching, theft and Arms Act.

The third accused, Rohit aka ‘Bada Jigra’, has been involved in 2 cases of robbery.
