Grand Theft Auto Online’s latest weekly update adds the Western Reever motorcycle, a homage to Cyberpunk 2077’s Arch Nazare and Keanu Reeves.
Grand Theft Auto Online‘s latest content update has added a brand new motorcycle named the Western Reever that cleverly references Keanu Reeves and Cyberpunk 2077, along with bonuses on certain activities and vehicle discounts. Despite releasing almost a decade ago, GTA Online‘s popularity continues with more and more players jumping into the extensive online sandbox title each year. With GTA Online becoming Twitch’s most-watched game in 2021 and the game-breaking player count record in 2020, GTA players and Rockstar Games have made it clear that the acclaimed multiplayer mode isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
As one of Rockstar’s most popular and lucrative games to date, GTA 5‘s multiplayer mode continues to receive major updates and expansions that add new content and expand the title’s replayability and longevity. Due to its massive player base and continued financial success, a current-gen version of the latest entry is set release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in March. Current-gen players will be able to experience a revamped version of GTA 5 and its multiplayer mode with improved visuals and gameplay, shorter loading times and new features yet to be announced that will help it stay distinctive compared to previous versions of the title.
As reported by GamesRadar and officially revealed on the Rockstar Games Newswire as a part of a new weekly update, GTA Online has received a new homage motorcycle and a slew of additional content. The new motorcycle titled the Western Reever is a stand-out reference to Cyberpunk 2077‘s Arch Nazare motorcycle, which appears to have the same yellow color tint and matching text in similar areas. Additionally, “Reever” is a reference to Keanu Reeves, who most popularly played Johnny Silverhand. In addition to the homage vehicle, Rockstar has also added a few new test track vehicles, a new price ride challenge, a free t-shirt, a new podium vehicle, double rewards, and discounts for certain vehicles.
The Arch Nazare was created exclusively for Cyberpunk 2077 in collaboration with Arch Motorcycle, a company Keanu Reeves co-founded. Based on the Arch Method 143, both Arch Motorcycle and CD Project Red later worked together to build a real version of the Arch Nazare to actively promote Cyberpunk 2077 and the high-end motorcycle manufacturer. In addition to the Arch Nazare, more updated futuristic designs of Arch Motorcycles also appear in the game and allow players to customize them as they progress.
GTA 5 is almost a decade old and its multiplayer mode continues to receive regular updates and additional nods to other popular media properties. It’s unknown what future updates will bring to the online sandbox, but more additions like the Western Reever could garner more fans from other popular games.
Grand Theft Auto Online is available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.
