Motorcycle strikes, kills pedestrian in Warren County

BOLTON – One of many people at a large gathering on a Warren County highway was struck by a motorcycle and killed early Saturday morning, sheriff’s investigators said.

Ghaland Nadeau, 33, who was in the roadway, was struck by a Honda motorcycle driven by Steven Gosselin, 22, who was heading west on Route 11, deputies said. The bike then struck one of the parked cars in the road’s shoulder.

Deputies said they were patrolling the area near Valley Woods Road to investigate suspected drag racing, having received reports of racing the previous evening. Numerous vehicles were found to be lining the road with large groups of people walking in the road. Deputies responded to the collision  few minutes after midnight.

Nadeau was pronounced dead at the scene. Gosselin’s passenger, Samantha Briggs, 25, was thrown off the motorcycle and was flown to Albany Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, deputies said. Gosselin was taken to Glens Falls hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

This crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office Traffic Safety Unit with assistance by the Criminal Investigations Unit.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by State Police, the Bolton Fire Department, Bolton EMS, North Warren EMS and Warrensburg EMS.
