The driver of the Dodge Charger tried to get out of the area as quickly as possibly and ended up pulling over in Groves.
PORT ARTHUR, Texas — A 19-year-old Port Arthur man was shot in the head Thursday night while riding in a car in Port Arthur.
Detectives with the Port Arthur Police Department are investigating after an unknown person shot at the vehicle as it drove along the 1700 block of Third Ave at about 8:45 p.m. according to a news release from the Port Arthur Police Department.
The driver of the Dodge Charger tried to get out of the area as quickly as possibly and ended up pulling over in Groves, just off Twin City Highway to get help for the man police said.
Only the driver, who was not hurt, and the wounded passenger were inside the car.
The wounded man was taken by helicopter to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston and is listed in critical condition according to the release.
As Port Arthur Police officers were investigating the scene of the shooting at 3rd Avenue and Gulfway Drive a 12News crew at the saw multiple shell casings on the ground.
Residents in the Port Arthur neighborhood said they heard several gunshots followed by the noise of a car driving away Thursday night.
