Burlington streets are about to get their spring cleaning.
City-wide street cleaning starts Wednesday, April 27 at 10 p.m. in the New North End and continues through May 5. All cars and basketball hoops must be moved off the street before 10 p.m. until 7 a.m. on the night of cleaning. Marketplace Garage, Lakeview Garage and College Street Garage will be free to those who need a place to store their car.
Maintenance lights and signs will alert neighborhoods to their date of cleaning but for those wanting to plan in advance, here is the schedule. See map for where each zone begins and ends:
April 27: Zone A, New North End (eastside)
April 28: Zone B + Zone H, New North End (westside)
May 1: Zone F, Downtown (note: begins at midnight, ends at 6 a.m.)
May 2: Zone G, Old North End
May 3: Zone D, Hill Section
May 4: Zone E, University Area
May 5: Zone C, South End
Every year the city cleans the streets to prevent flooding from clogged drains and create a safer riding experience for bikers. Any cars left on the street will be towed for the price of $125 at the owner’s expense.
