National Guardsman dies in Clinton County motorcycle crash

Leonardo Hernandez Jimenez, 20, of Frankfort, died in a crash on a road that splits into two nearly 90 degree turns, the sheriff’s office said.

CLINTON COUNTY, Ind. — A 20-year-old man died Sunday in a motorcycle crash on State Road 38 in Clinton County. Authorities say he was an active member of the National Guard.

Leonardo Hernandez Jimenez, 20, of Frankfort, was the lead motorcycle in a group of three who were traveling westbound on State Road 38 East. 

At around 3 p.m., the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office said dispatch began receiving 911 calls reporting a single-vehicle motorcycle crash with injuries near State Road 38, County Road 500 South, and County Road 450 East. In this area, State Road 38 turns into two nearly 90 degree turns, with County Road 500 South running east and County Road 450 East running south, the sheriff’s office explained.

Biker not wearing helmet dies in Orangeburg crash: SC cops

A motorcycle rider was killed in an overnight crash with a pickup truck on a Midlands road, South Carolina Highway Patrol said Wednesday.

It was the third motorcycle rider to die since Saturday after a Columbia-area crash.

The two-vehicle collision happened at about 9:20 p.m. Tuesday on U.S. 178 in Orangeburg County, according to Master Trooper David Jones.

A 2003 Chevrolet truck was heading west on U.S. 178, and when it made a left turn onto Lake Edisto Road, it crashed into an eastbound 2005 Yamaha motorcycle, Jones said.

The motorcycle rider, who was not wearing a helmet, was taken to an area hospital and died, according to Jones.

The Orangeburg County Coroner’s Office is expected to publicly identify the motorcycle rider after notifying the next of kin.

The truck driver was wearing a seat belt and was not hurt, according to Jones.

No other injuries were reported.

Motorcycle rider dies week after Newberry Co. crash: SC cops

One person died days after a motorcycle crashed into a tractor on a Midlands road, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Tammy Bullard was being treated at Prisma Health Greenville for injuries she suffered in the July 17 collision, Newberry County Coroner Laura Kneece said. The 42-year-old Little Mountain resident died Sunday at the hospital, according to Kneece.

Bullard was a passenger on a 2015 Harley-Davidson motorcycle that crashed into a 2012 Kubota farm tractor, said Cpl. Matt Southern of the Highway Patrol.

The wreck happened at about 3:50 p.m., at the intersection of S.C. 34 and Quaker Road in Newberry County, according to Southern.

Both the tractor and the motorcycle were heading east on S.C. 34, Southern said. When the tractor turned left onto Quaker Road, the motorcycle was attempting to pass and crashed into the farm vehicle, according to Southern.

Rider, 14, dies in crash during motorcycle race in Spain

MADRID (AP) — A 14-year-old Spanish rider died after being struck by another rider in a motorcycle race in Spain on Sunday, organizers said.

Hugo Millán was run over after going down in the middle of the track on the second lap of the European Talent Cup race at the MotorLand Aragón Circuit.

Although a few riders were able to avoid Millán as he tried to get up and move out of the way at the exit of a turn, organizers said Oleg Pawelec on the No. 5 bike hit him straight on.

Millán, who had started in second place, stayed motionless on the ground as other riders went by. He had just avoided falling a few turns earlier but eventually lost control and went down while in second position.

Pawelec was not seriously injured and left the track on his own.
