Motorcycle deputy injured in crash involving semi-truck in Valencia

A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department motorcycle deputy was injured in a crash Wednesday morning involving a semi-trailer truck in the Valencia neighborhood of Santa Clarita.

The crash was reported around 7:20 a.m. near the intersection of McBean Parkway and Creekside Road, according to the sheriff’s department.

“Apparently, there’s a semi truck, 18-wheeler, did a left-hand turn right in front and failed to yield for the oncoming traffic, the motorcycle, and it was a head-on collision,” Sheriff Alex Villanueva said.

The motorcycle deputy, assigned to the sheriff’s Santa Clarita Valley Station, was taken to a hospital in serious condition. He was on duty at the time of the crash, the sheriff’s department reported.

Vero Beach man on motorcycle seriously injured in crash with USPS mail truck

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A mail truck and motorcycle crash on 66th Avenue seriously injured a 29-year-old Vero Beach man, a highway official said.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers are investigating the crash between the United States  Postal Service mail truck and the motorcycle that happened shortly before 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 1200 block of 66th Avenue.

FHP Lt. Yanko Reyes said both vehicles were travelling north.

The Sheriff’s Office said in a social media post the cyclist hit the mail truck as it attempted a U-turn on 66th Avenue.

Both the mail truck and the red motorcycle stopped facing each other in the southbound lane of the highway after the crash.

State troopers, Indian River County sheriff’s deputies and an Indian River County Fire Rescue engine were at the crash throughout the afternoon.

A Massachusetts woman died this morning after being thrown from a motorcycle during a crash.

Maine State Police say a Massachusetts woman died Saturday morning when she was thrown from a motorcycle during a crash. According to police, 50-year-old Anne Stout was the passenger on the back of the motorcycle and 51-year-old Gerald Gibson of Sanford was the driver. Police say the crash happened on Old Berwick Road in Lyman around 11:30 a.m. when Gibson drove on the soft shoulder, left the road and then crashed into a small ditch. Police say both Gibson and Stout were not wearing helmets. Gibson was transported to Maine Medical Center with minor injuries.

Baby critically injured in motorcycle crash while riding on Florida man’s lap, police say

CLEARWATER, Fla. – A Florida man who was driving a motorcycle with his young stepdaughter in his lap is facing several charges after she was seriously injured when he ran a stop sign and laid down his bike to avoid hitting a car, police said.
